Going out

The brocante Bed & Breakfast Catherina Hoeve is an excellent location to relax for a couple of days. Plenty of sites to visit, things to do. And why not end the day with a visit to one of the many fine restaurants that this area has to offer:

Groet: Restaurant Duingroet
Groet: Lekker Puh Eten & Drinken

Petten: Strandpaviljoen Zee & Zo

Burgerbrug: De Brugwachter
Burgerbrug: Dinner Events

Alkmaar

Alkmaar, “Cheese City”, has a beautiful old town with canals and a large shopping area. Alkmaar is located 15 kilometers south of our B&B.
During the summer there is a weekly cheese market.

Den Helder

Den Helder is the location of the largest dutch Navy base. It is also a major hub for off shore activities at this side of the North Sea.
To visit the island of Texel, take the ferry, which leaves from the harbour of Den Helder every hour in the summer (schedule). It is a hort (half hour) trip which brings you to the first and largest of a string of islands that encompasses the “Waddenzee”, a Unesco World Heritage site.

Schagen

During the summer months, Schagen, 10 kilometers north of Burgerbrug, is host to the West-Friese Folklore, where costumes, plays and displays bring you back to the old days. Well worth a visit. Schagen also has an important regional role and has lots of interesting sites and shops. The central market place offers fine restaurants and bars.
